Plus Size Ruffle Blazer Outfits

What is there not to love about a blazer with jeans?  Such a classic combination.  But, these plus size ruffle blazer outfits have modern details: frilled jackets, a trendy belt, and distressed cropped boyfriend jeans.  Stylish updates to a timeless concept.

As I said in a previous post, pair the latest trends with some classic pieces if you are worried about looking “age-appropriate” or “too trendy.”  So if these are your concerns, swap the distressed boyfriend jeans for a slim bootcut or skinny jean, that way the you have more “conservative” pieces in the mix.  All of that said, I absolutely love these outfits just as they are, so I recommend trying them out before deciding to turn down the trendy-factor.

Although I haven’t personally tried the Double G Gucci belts, they are still the “it” accessory.  Rochelle from Beauticurve says these Gucci belts come as large as a size 20 (or 44″ waist).  Go here to see the updated size chart and more details about how to choose the correct size.  I should also mention that the larger Double G belt might be a better choice for jeans depending on your personal preference.

  1. Hi Alexa!

I love your site and I really appreciate your insight and ideas for fashion and all the work you put into making outfits. It REALLY helps someone like me who’s not very girly girl and a little self conscious about my weight. So thanks! I do have a question- if possible, could you put some ideas out there for pear shape gals? I have a hard time with tops because I need to size up to fit my hips (and lower belly pooch), but then the chest area is too big. Any insight would be great!

    1. Hi Lacy!
Thanks so much for your kind words! 🙂 I’m so glad you find the blog helpful. So, first off, have you read my post on dressing pear shapes? I think you might find that helpful.

As for tops, if you are frequently having this problem, I have a few suggestions. First, consider wearing baby doll or empire waist tops, which will flare out over the hips. Second, when looking for layering pieces, such as denim jackets, blazers, and cardigans, look for cropped so that they only have to fit the upper part of your torso. Also, these shapes look great over baby doll and empire waist tops. Second, consider finding yourself a good tailor so when you see pieces you absolutely love (or need), you can pay to have them altered. And lastly, look into places where you can get custom sizing for a nominal fee such as eShakti, which I have had a lot of luck getting pieces that fit me perfectly. Like, the most perfect fitting clothes I have ever had on my person! Just make sure your measurements are accurate.

I hope some of these were helpful!
