A plus size glamping capsule with Maggie from @Airstream_Glamper, an expert in all things “glamping.”

I teamed up with Maggie to put together a mini capsule wardrobe for those interested in getting out into the wilderness with style [and comfort].

So I had to ask Maggie some key questions as I have never been glamping.

In fact, I haven’t even been camping in well over a decade. And I’ll be honest, those days of waking up freezing in a tent, using an outhouse in “bear country,” or encountering a spider worthy of burning down the campground bathhouse days are behind me. I’m saying… never again. Lol.

I think glamping might be a great alternative for me because I do love being in nature, but I like being comfortable a lot more.

What is “Glamping?”

So I asked Maggie from @Airstream_Glamper what “glamping?” She says:

“Glamping is basically camping with a little extra sparkle. You still get the fire, the stars, the smell of coffee in the morning—but with cozy bedding, good food, and maybe a few pretty touches that make it feel like you.
For us, it’s all about our Airstream, ‘Sylvia.’ She’s our little home on wheels—part adventure, part comfort zone. I always say it’s less about roughing it and more about making the outdoors feel like your happy place.”

Plus Size Glamping Capsule – Athleisure Sets

For this capsule, I wanted comfort and practicality to be a priority without sacrificing style.

So I knew I wanted to include some “elevated” athleisure matching sets.

In case you haven’t heard matching sets are trending.

Plus Size Black Athleisure Set

So I chose a black set: a scuba-knit tunic and leggings.

The tunic is just long enough to cover most people’s bums, but this tunic is even longer.

Both are great choices to wear with black athletic leggings.

My Favorite Athletic Leggings

Now let’s talk leggings.  You may recall that I wrote about my favorite ponte knit leggings.

The style of leggings I feature in these looks are for exercising and lounging.  Different vibe, different fabric.

The actual leggings I included are highly rated, longtime best sellers from Spanx.

I need them a bit larger, so I thought I would also share my personal favorite activewear leggings.

They are pricey, no doubt.  But, they will last forever!

The quality is insane.  I bought my mother a pair years ago (she is also obsessed), and they’re still going strong even though she wears them all the time.

So they’re totally worth the price, in my opinion. I have the 7/8 leggings and the flares.  So good!

Plus Size Burgundy Athleisure Set

I also included a burgundy athleisure set: a burgundy tunic sweatshirt and wide leg pants.

This set comes from Spanx, which means the pants come in regular, petite, and tall!

Also, there are many other coordinating pieces!

I love that you can mix and match coordinating pieces!

Now I knew I wanted to include some jeans because I am a jeans kind of gal!

But, I wanted them to be super comfortable, stretchy, but hold their shape, and pull-on. Yesssss!

So I included these flared jeans, which are all of the above and come in three inseams!

Amazing!

Do You Want to Glamp?

I asked Maggie from @Airstream_Glamper to tell me what she would recommend for someone who wants to try glamping?

Maggie says:

Start small—you don’t need a fancy setup to get the vibe. You can rent a camper, book a glamping spot, or even set up a cute tent in your backyard. Bring a few cozy things—soft bedding, string lights, real coffee, and maybe one “luxury” item that makes you smile.

Mostly, just make it your kind of fun. If it feels easy and a little magical, you’re doing it right.

According to Maggie from @Airstream_Glamper, there may be nature walks, but no “real” hiking.

[Now I’m even more interested! Lol.]

So for shoes I added some trendy sneakers that will look great with the athleisure bottoms or jeans.

And some lace-up boots with a lug sole in tan. So great for every day.

As for the accessories, again, it’s all about the utility but with style.

A vest is a excellent for layering. Remember my Ireland story about how a vest saved me?

I went with a baseball cap that looks great with both black and brown.

Any tweed or herringbone baseball cap would look great with these outfits.

For the bags, I included a quilted nylon leopard print crossbody bag. I think it’s a great choice to work with all of these outfits, but also practical.

And when you need to carry a bit more, grab this convertible tote. It’s gorgeous! Carry it with a handle or use the removable strap.

Are We Wearing Crew Socks? Hint: Yes!

As we have discussed, crew socks are back!

And I know us Gen Xers, Xennials, and Millennials are no show and ankle socks folks! I know!

But, hear me out… I found out there is such a thing as “mini” crew socks! Yes!

These shorter crew socks still get the job done (looking modern and fresh), while not causing my legs to look shorter and thicker.

Can I get an Amen? A Shalom? Any gratitude to the universe or a diety will do! Haha.

These socks will look great with the black leggings.

Plus Size Glamping Capsule – Perfume

For the scent, I included one of the most-loved fragrances from Le Labo: Santal 33.

Santal 33 is a unisex fragrance described as “captures a defining image of the spirit of the American West.”

Essentially, it smells like you bottled the aura of a hippie’s spirit animal with the collective mood of Burning Man, then added some sandalwood.

If it’s over your budget, I highly recommend you try the Dossier version or the Twist version.

Both brands make fragrances inspired by designer scents.

I tried the brand Dossier.  I ordered a bunch of their scents.  And so far, I love them!
