Over-the-Knee boots are trending this season. But, if you are like me, you have wide calves, and shopping for tall boots is nearly as stressful as swimsuit shopping. For reals, trying to cram your leg into a boot designed for 5’10” size 2 models [in front of sales people] can cause anyone to give up and think: “tall boots just aren’t for me.” Wrong!
To the left is Crystal from Sometimes Glam rocking her red over-the-knee boots! Slay, girl!
There are a lot more choices available these days, even the coveted and trendy over-the-knee styles! In fact, I found 24 pairs that I’d love to have in my closet! Below are my picks, including a wide variety of styles: flat, high heels, faux suede, genuine leather, stretchy material, custom sizing available… Practically anything your little heart desires!
Measure Your Gams (or “pins” for the Brits)
I’ll have more information about shopping for wide calf boots in a new post soon. But, until then, be sure to take a measuring tape and measure the circumference of the widest part of your calf. This is going to be your magic number. Compare your magic number to the boot’s maximum circumference to make sure the boot is wide enough (or will stretch wide enough) for your calf.
About Stretchy Boots
Some boots are made of stretchy materials that will stretch wide enough to accommodate your leg. If your magic number is larger than 16, don’t trust that a stretchy boot will stretch enough to fit your leg unless it specifies that it can stretch to a greater circumference or is categorized as “wide calf.” This is not to say that it won’t fit, but 16″+ is considered “wide calf” and that may be its maximum circumference.
