All three looks feature this classic plaid tweed jacket.
Because I believe style lives in juxtapositions, I paired it with some distressed jeans.
A Case for Distressing
I hear a lot, like “a lot” a lot, of complaints about “hole-y jeans.” And I can understand wanting to look polished and age-appropriate, I do!
But, in some cases, the distressing helps keep things from looking too “stuffy.”
Remember, that “biddy-factor” I talked about when wearing tweed? This is a conservative jacket with a high biddy-factor. Lol.
Because the rest of the outfits are so classic, one trendy piece, like distressed jeans, will make you look cool rather than “too old” or “too much.” Trust me!
As long as you don’t have much skin showing through any holes, you’re totally appropriate. I swear!
Abercrombie Plus Size Jeans
These distressed straight-leg jeans are from Abercrombie & Fitch.

A&F now offers select items in sizes up to a size 24, or a size 37 in their jeans.
They are sized like J.Crew.
They also have a “Curve Love” style, which adds an additional 2” at the hip and thigh.
This can help eliminate waist gap.
More Outfit Details
The first two outfit ideas have a red camisole underpinning.
The first one in silk, the second in sequins.
Add a classic navy quilted shoulder bag with chain strap like this one from Saint Laurent.
A gold pointed toe ballet flat with bow keeps it cute.
Jewelry
With the influence of Bottega Veneta, sculptural gold jewelry is hot.

I love their waterdrop earrings, but not the price tag.
Fear not, I found some similar earrings for a lot less on Amazon.
For the wrist, add a gold monogram bracelet.
And lastly throw on my favorite ring I picked up at the Nordy Anniversary Sale this year.
