Plus Size Summer Kimono Outfit

A new plus size summer kimono outfit just in time for warm weather.  I hope you aren’t sick of what I call my “summer uniform” yet, but really, can you have too many beautiful kimonos?  Based on my closet full, I’d say no!  They are so easy to throw on over jeans and a tee or tank.  Or switch things up and add one to a denim skirt, shorts, or even wear as a swim cover-up.  So easy, so chic.  Play up the bohemian vibes or make things glamorous by choosing different accessories.  You can find more plus size kimono outfit ideas here, here, and here.

A couple of notes about the basics in this look.  First, I always recommend the plus size tees and tanks (only the 100% cotton ones, which is dependent on the color) from Yours Clothing.  However, I just found out that their flat rate shipping to the US has gone up substantially.  For those like me, who know their size and would stock up by buying in bulk, I think it is still worth it because their prices are so reasonable to begin with and there is very little risk of ever needing to return anything.  However, if you aren’t sure about your size (or not sure you trust my feelings on the quality), it is likely not worth it to you.

So, I wanted to let you know I am searching for some new tees to recommend.  It is probably going to take me awhile.  But, I’m on the hunt!  And I am starting with getting some of the tanks and tees from Torrid, which in the past have been good quality, but not quite right in terms of their cut and stretch.  But, they have new styles, like the “girlfriend” tee, that I need to try.  If you have any tees to suggest, please let me know in the comments below.  Thanks!

Secondly, I usually link to my favorite jeggings (similar) whenever I feature skinny jeans.  So I thought I would share my thoughts on the jeggings from Torrid, since I mention them so frequently but rarely tell you why I love them so.  They are a true “jegging,” meaning they are a very skinny and very stretchy fit.  They hug you all the way to the ankle.  And the stretch holds you in a bit, while still being very comfortable.  But, most importantly, they hold their shape all day (and then some) without “bagging out.”  Plus, they fit apple shapes and “new apples” very well.  I think it is because they are so stretchy that they can stretch to accommodate a large(r) waists.  I typically size down one size, but I do like my jeggings to be very snug.  And if you are a fan of Torrid’s jeggings, you might be excited to hear that they brought out a “flared jegging,” (similar) which is a flare-legged jean made with the same stretchy denim as their jeggings.  Brilliant!

  1. Absolutely LOVE this look – but the kimono is sold out in my size. I have searched for “similar” but can’t find anything that comes close *sigh*. Any suggestions? BTW it’s the orange that captures me 🙂

  2. The tshirts from Yours are not good at all. Very poor quality. Long time to ship and my white tee was not pure white.

    1. Hi Kira,
I responded to your last comment about this issue. Did you get my reply? I wrote:

I am so sorry this was your experience. I have purchased from Yours many times and had nothing but wonderful experiences. And I have heard several times from my readers how much they love those tees too. So this is truly surprising! As an aside, I am not an affiliate nor do I get anything out of promoting Yours. I wear them and genuinely love them. I ordered 2 new tanks and a cardigan from them last month and was very pleased. I appreciate your feedback because perhaps these is some new quality control issue and I don’t want to recommend things that disappoint, or in this case, are unacceptable. So maybe I should order some new tees and check them out again. I think that’s my next step. As for your tees, did you contact them to report this issue? Please let me know if I can be a help. Thank you!

A further update: I am in the process of trying out new tees from several places so I can some up with tees to recommend. Thanks again for your feedback! 🙂
