Plus Size Winter Leggings Outfits

A couple of plus size winter leggings outfit ideas with a purple sweater, color-blocked scarf, and wide calf knee boots.

Both looks are practically identical, just different color scarves, earrings, bracelets, and lipsticks.

I couldn’t decide which colors I liked better, so why not post both?

I topped these looks with a wool fur-trim hooded parka.  It is gorgeous!

But, if it’s not in the budget, any camel coat will do.  I also linked to some less expensive options below.

My Favorite Ponte Leggings

While any ponte leggings will do, I wanted to mention my favorite ones.

These leggings are stretchy enough to be comfortable but sturdy enough to maintain their shape.

And they are thick enough to look smoother than a typical legging.

Many readers have emailed me to say how much they love these leggings as I have been recommending them for years now!

However, if you are petite, try these.  For tall, try these.

The Boots

Then I added a block heel knee-high boot.  These beautiful boots are from my favorite cordwainers, Duo in the UK.  Duo makes boots to fit your specific calf size, up to 50 cm or about 19.7″ in circumference.

And although I can’t find it on their website now, I do recall that over a certain calf size they do make the foot of the boot slightly wider as well.  I have a pair of their boots and they fit my wide feet.

If you want help figuring out how to measure your calves and wide calf boot shopping in general, see this post

And lastly, if genuine leather boots aren’t in your budget, these are a nice alternative.

  1. Both scarves are beautiful but I think the red one goes best with this outfit. Once again, you’ve inspired me to go buy more leggings! Lol!

  2. I just love the green tone scarf with the purple sweater! The colors work so well together!!Thanks for the great looks, Alexa…

  3. Hi Alex I live in the UK and love looking at your blog. I am a plus size 22, the problem I have is trying to find ankle boots. I have wide feet and large ankles, I have found and on line company that cater for wide feet, but the ankles are still too small. I wonder if others have the same trouble and if you know of any companies that cater for large ankles.

    1. If you can locate the OTK boots by BOS. & CO. in your size, I highly recommend them. They look almost identical to the $700 50/50 by Stuart Weitzman but with a much more forgiving stretch gusset on the back that goes from ankle to knee. They are incredibly comfortable, much more durable, and a much better price point. I suspect that they might work well for you. I have a 17″ runner calf and these have plenty of room, and plenty of additional stretch in the ankle. Good luck!
