Plus Size on a Budget – LBD

A plus size date night look with a LBD (little black dress) for my “on a budget” series

Before getting into the details, I want to prevent some anticipated feedback.  So please keep these things in mind:

My “Disclaimer”

  • “Budget” is relative.  Some people easily spend $300 on sunglasses, while other people allocate $300 for their annual clothing budget.
  • You may be able to find these items elsewhere for less.  These are just some “budget-friendly” finds I have come across.  And I typically don’t link to clearance items because they sell out and then people are disappointed.  Also, I have no way of linking to thrift stores, but obviously if you want to check out your local thrift stores, I think that is a great idea!
  • Recycle & reuse.  As with all of my posts, I hope that you can use pieces you already have in your wardrobe.  Additionally, I assume that you can reuse all of the pieces below in other combinations with things in your closet to create a variety of looks.  Meaning, I think it is unfair to judge the expense of one outfit as though that is the only way to wear the pieces.

Perfect for a night out on the town or even an upcoming holiday party!

This super cute sequin t-shirt dress is available in sizes XXS – XXXL.  An XL = 16/18, XXL = 20, and XXXL = 22.

There is a size chart in the images on the Walmart website

Side note: if you are looking for a variety of plus size sequin dresses, check out this post.

So in my opinion, any sequin dress looks fabulous with a moto jacket.  And I found this one at Walmart for twenty-five bucks!  Woot!

Be sure to see this post for another plus size LBD with a faux leather jacket outfit.

As for the shoes, obviously, you could wear this look with pumps or heeled sandals to really dress it up.

Or you could wear this dress with cool sneakers for some daytime sparkly fun!  Why not?

I chose to add some suede ankle booties for a trendy detail.

Plus Size on a Budget – Makeup Details

As you probably already know, I am obsessed with makeup.

Maybe you’ve caught me doing concealer reviews on Instagram or noticed that I include cosmetics and beauty products in most of my ensembles.

Point is, makeup is my jam!  And I really LOVE the makeup picks I included in this post.

The L’Oreal Colour Riche Shine lipstick, which I use frequently, reminds me of the much [much] pricier YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Lipstick that I also love.  It is highly pigmented, very shiny, and is moisturizing like a balm.

I love the “Glossy Fawn” shade as it is the perfect nude for me.  And I love a nude lip with dramatic eyes.

Speaking of eyes, these J.Cat Pris-Metal Chrome Eye Mousses are amazing!  They are exactly as they’re named: a soft, almost wet-feeling, mousse that is metallic and glittery.

You can apply them with your fingers for an extremely shiny color payoff.  I love them almost as much as the more expensive Stila Magnificent Metals liquid eyeshadows.  And for just six bucks, you’ve got to give them a try!

  1. I so wish you would model the outfits you recommend!!! I just went to your Instagram hoping to see real live plus-size models in the recommended clothes, but alas all that was there was a couple skinny girls. You are a beautiful woman! Why don’t you let us appreciate how you look in the garments, and thus how WE would look in them?? ❤️
