A plus size striped sweater jacket outfit idea serving preppy cuteness.
Plus Size Striped Sweater Jacket
Plus Size Striped Sweater “Lady” Jacket
Start with the quintessential preppy layer: a navy striped sweater jacket also known over at J.Crew as a “lady jacket.”
It’s got some Chanel vibes. You will often see this style of cropped jacket in a classic tweed or bouclé with gold buttons.

Outfit Details
Keep the jacket from looking “old biddy” by pairing it with some modern denim, like these ankle length wide leg jeans.
Add a pop of color to add some interest like the red satchel from Mulberry.
Loafers are a great choice, but opt for a trendier take with these chunky loafers.
Top the look with some oversized square sunglasses. So chic!
Finish the look with some trendy sculptural gold earrings, coin bracelet, and a dome ring.
Perfume
Now make sure you smell as bougie as you look!
I included Chanel’s Gabrielle, which is such a “rich” floral fragrance.
If it’s over your budget, I highly recommend you try the Dossier version.
I own their “Floral Ylang Ylang,” which is inspired by Chanel’s Gabrielle.
I quickly used the entire bottle, which considering my vast perfume collection, is really saying something.
I then purchased the original Gabrielle and I have concluded there is no difference including the longevity.
Oh la la! An amazing luxury scent at a fraction of the price!

love this look. Classic and timeless.
Thank you!!! 🙂
Thank you for offering alternatives to Talbots, which upcharges $20 for this sweater in plus size over the straight sizes. I just can’t support them. Other companies have figured it out and they’ll get my support every time.
Sure. I try to include alternatives when possible. 🙂
Hi Alexa – have you done a post about wide leg pants and their lengths and best shoes that I missed? I know these are ankle length so that’s easier for me. But I am struggling with new wide leg pants and what shoes and how to know the best length. I don’t like for my shoes to be completely covered or to worry about them dragging the ground. But I also would like a more polished look without having to wear heels all the time. I don’t usually have to hem pants, but now I. Wondering. Any thoughts? Thanks, as always, for your great finds and info!
Hi Leigh,
I did a post on wide legs, but I didn’t discuss length/shoes. For a full length wide leg or flare leg, you want the hem to stop just grazing the top of your foot, this is true for heels and flats. So from the front, you should see the front third of the foot and in the back should be 1.5″- 2″ off the ground. Not a lot of clearance, so you may have some wear in the back after a lot of wear. If you tend to switch back and forth between heels and flats, I recommend having a pair in a different length for each, especially for basics like jeans or black pants. As for style of shoes, a pointed or almond toe will add visual length to your leg. So if going with flats, especially if you are shorter or have short legs, consider a flat pointed toe like these.
I hope this helps!
