Plus Size Vest Casual Outfit

It has been well over a month since I posted an outfit with a striped tee.  We’re overdue!  Lol.  If you don’t already know, I’m an unapologetic stripe-a-holic.  You can read about my thoughts on wearing stripes here.  Now let’s get into this plus size vest casual outfit.

First, let’s talk about this plus size vest in a gorgeous hot magenta color.  I’m in love with it.  I created a whole outfit around it.  And then I see that it only comes in plus size petite!  [Hand to forehead emoji]  So if you’re 5’4″ or shorter, you’re in luck!

But, fret not, there are still some great options for the average and taller.  First, I found another plus size hot pink quilted vest here and a fleece vest here.  Second, I think this combo would look fabulous with the same vest in orange.   I also show it below with this orange and navy vest.  Really any color that you can pull out of that plaid scarf will work, but obviously a brighter color is going to have more impact.  UPDATE: Found an alternative!

As the weather gets colder, swap the flats for booties.  Want to see more plus size vest outfits, go here.  And subscribe to get new posts delivered to your inbox here.

  1. Is there another jean you’d recommend? Should it be straight rather than a skinny jean? I think I’d need a 26 and these only go to 24. And I feel like the strings on the hems would annoy me. Love that vest color!

    1. Hi Martha,
I really think any style leg can work here. The biggest consideration is that a more “classic” jean, like a dark denim bootcut is going to make the outfit swing much more to a preppy side. Not that there is anything wrong with that, at all, but it’s just a different feel. And you might want to switch up the vibe based on where you’re going and what you’re doing.

A “modern” jean, like a boyfriend or a distressed jean, is going to look much more “on trendy.”

Mainly because the top of the outfit (vest, stripes, scarf) are pretty preppy and classic. So, I like to balance that with a modern twist on the bottom, like the jeans I featured. All of that said, I love Torrid’s jeans and they come up to a size 30. So here are some of my picks for the latter more modern “balanced” look:
      Slim Boot
      Slim Boot w less distressing
Jegging (you may want to size down)
      Dark Jegging

      I hope these suggestions help!

  2. WEEEEEE! I stumbled on the Zesty Orange Vest when I was looking at the outfit with the Ivory vest. And I wondered… hmmm wonder how I could wear that?

        1. My almost mother in law is a happy girl today. I ordered too large in almost EVERYTHING… ya know how we think it will be less clingy.. more comfy. NOPE! Just too big. Now I have to coordinate days that we won’t be in the same outfit because I am ordering the same stuff all over again.

  3. Alexa, girl, you read my mind as usual! Love this look! I recently ordered a Columbia vest and they are great garments…well made, fair price and less bulk and heat if you’re in a “thermally sensitive” stage of life like me!?

  4. This is a great ensemble, you never disappoint. I’ve been wanting a quilted vest, I actually want white, and was hoping for a smaller quilt pattern – If you run across one (please – no special search!) would you consider sharing? That said, I love the pink. What shade lipstick is in your post? I’m still searching for the perfect raspberry color. I dream of the day when you do makeup posts as well! (although, I already buy so many of your finds, with makeup. – I could go broke.) : )

    1. Hi Linda,
Thank you!!! Off the top of my head, I can think of a few vests for you to check out: One, Two, Three.

The YSL lip color is “Rose St Germain,” but the “Pink In Devotion” is also gorgeous! I also LOVE the formula of the L’Oreal Colour Riche Shine and think it’s comparable. It’s like a highly pigmented lip balm that shines like a gloss! Check out the “Glassy Garnet” color.

I’m obsessed with makeup! Lol. I would totally do more posts, but they’re not that popular, so I try to give people what they want. 🙂 But, maybe I should do one… It’s been awhile! Hmmmm…
