Plus Size on a Budget – Casual Friday

A plus size casual Friday outfit idea for my “plus size on a budget series!”

Like I’ve said, looking cute doesn’t have to break the bank!

My “Disclaimer”

I want to prevent some anticipated feedback.  So please keep these things in mind:

  • “Budget” is relative.  Some people easily spend $300 on sunglasses, while other people allocate $300 for their annual clothing budget.
  • You may be able to find these items elsewhere for less.  These are just some “budget-friendly” finds I have come across.  And I typically don’t link to clearance items because they sell out and then people are disappointed.  Also, I have no way of linking to thrift stores, but obviously, if you want to check out your local thrift stores, I think that is a great idea!
  • Recycle & reuse.  As with all of my posts, I hope that you can use the pieces you already have in your wardrobe.  Additionally, I assume that you can reuse all of the pieces below in other combinations with things in your closet to create a variety of looks.  Meaning, I think it is unfair to judge the expense of one outfit as though that is the only way to wear the pieces.

Outfit Details

Classics on classics on classics.  A double-breasted navy blazer with some stretch tops a yellow striped t-shirt.

FYI, this blazer has been featured here on the blog in other colors here, here, here, and here.

And see another plus size double-breasted navy blazer outfit here.

Bootcut jeans complete the look for a casual yet polished look.

This would be a great outfit for casual Fridays at the office.  It might work any day depending upon your work dress code.

You can also consider trouser jeans to look a little more professional.

Accessories

The accessories are also classics.  Oversized sunglasses, which are similar to my favorites are a preppy gal’s favorite in a classic tortoise.

A beautiful tote with simple hardware and flat mules are both in a rich cognac brown to round out the look.

And for jewelry, gold classics: oval thick hoop earrings and a thick link bracelet.

Pavoi Jewelry

The hoop earrings featured in this look are made by PAVOI, which I’ve mentioned many times before.

You can find PAVOI on Amazon, and must say the quality is really great for the prices!

I actually own a bunch of PAVOI pieces now.  I started with a couple of these thick gold hoops in the two larger sizes.  I was quite impressed.

Subsequently, I bought the same CZ stud earrings in gold.  I also picked up two gold cubic zirconia tennis bracelets, the smaller 2mm style and the 4mm style.

Actually, I have so many pieces now, I have lost track!  But, so far so good!

Jewelry Care

These are inexpensive plated pieces so you might need to “baby” them for longevity.

Avoid the obvious: showers, pools, spraying your wrist with perfume while wearing them.

Store them in air-tight plastic bags, if possible.  This will keep the plating from damage and tarnishing.

FYI, you can check out some more of my picks in my Amazon store.

Perfume & Lipstick

I have had this perfume brand, Dossier, on my “to try” list for quite some time.

The scent I chose for this look is their “Gourmand Orange Blossom,” which is inspired by Lancome’s La Vie Est Belle Eau De Parfum.

Oh la la!  An amazing luxury scent at a fraction of the price!

I am going to pick up a couple.  I will report back!

For lips, I opted for a deep red with “Rouge St. Germain.”  This shade will work best on all cool or neutral skin tones including deep shade.

If you have a warm undertone, go with “Volcanic.”

Another option for cool tones with a blue base, but a lighter red is “Maison Marais.

  1. I love the dressy with casual look and this outfit is not exception! The jacket and accessories dress up a typical, casual outfit which I love. It’s been a refreshing new look I’ve been enjoying. I wonder what a summer version of this will be. Wish-list!<3 Love the prices too! While it's nice to get certain items for their durability, they way styles come and go, I prefer the lower costs. Thanks so much for this awesome outfit idea!

  2. I absolutely love this! These outfits look amazing & so well put together. Then you break it down on how much each piece costs & where you can order everything. This blue blazer is awesome & I want to purchase the entire look! Thank you so much alexawebb.com.

  3. Love this look! Casual, but neat looking and all coordinated. Love the prices too.
Thanks for sending and for all the research you do for us!

  4. I am basically old, short, and fat and I couldn’t pull off any of these. My biggest problem is that my stomach is so big, if I wasn’t 75 people would probably think I was pregnant…..my stomach sticks out much farther than my boobs, which are fairly small for my weight. And much to my dismay, I have given up heels several years ago due to bad knees. What would you recommend for me? I feel like I look frumpy all the time. I’m trying to lose some weight, but not having much luck.
