Plus Size on a Budget – Spring Casual Outfit

A plus size spring casual outfit that won’t break the bank!  Another look from my “on a budget” series.  Before getting into the details, I want to prevent some anticipated feedback.  So please keep these things in mind:

Plus Size on a Budget – My “Disclaimer”

  • “Budget” is relative.  Some people easily spend $300 on sunglasses, while other people allocate $300 for their annual clothing budget.
  • You may be able to find these items elsewhere for less.  These are just some “budget-friendly” finds I have come across.  And I typically don’t link to clearance items because they sell out and then people are disappointed.  Also, I have no way of linking to thrift stores, but obviously if you want to check out your local thrift stores, I think that is a great idea!
  • Recycle & reuse.  As with all of my posts, I hope that you can use pieces you already have in your wardrobe.  Additionally, I assume that you can reuse all of the pieces below in other combinations with things in your closet to create a variety of looks.  Meaning, I think it is unfair to judge the expense of one outfit as though that is the only way to wear the pieces.

Plus Size on a Budget – Outfit Details

This “on a budget” outfit is perfect for spring and on into summer.  Ultra light layers.  A fine-knit barely there cardigan and a gauze scarf layered over a tank. Switch the white skinnies for a pair of shorts come hotter weather.

By the way, the scarf hails from Canada, from a store called Ardene, which I haven’t ordered from yet.  But they do have a plus size collection.  And they offer free shipping on orders over $50.  Certainly worth checking out!

  1. Thank you for including a Canadian store- and I didn’t know they had plus size clothing at all! LOVE your blog- love your insta. Love love LOVE!

  2. I am in love with the budget friendly options. I bought white capris from Lane Bryant and haven’t been able to finish the outfit and this post gave me a ton of ideas. Thank you so much, I love getting your emails and seeing your options on Pinterest.

  3. I just wanted to say thank you for doing budget friendly outfits. Super cute and love that they are affordable pieces!

  4. I am late to the party, but glad I finally found you! Love your style and love the new stores that I was not aware of. I can see that I will need a bigger closet very soon, but will be so happy with what I have! Can’t wait to explore more. Thank you,!

    A new fan!

  5. Scarf is gone. Darn it! I’v searched but cant find any lightweight with similar colors. Has anyone else come across any?

  6. Thanks so much! Been struggling over whether I should even attempt white jeans but this is cute!! HOWEVER, let me ask you about scarves. I love them but my plus neckline can’t do the beautiful, European neckwrap. What are other options? (I don’t have the budget for wonderful necklaces for ea outfit.)
