Two plus size burgundy holiday outfit ideas for dinners, parties, and events this fall.
The first look is slightly dressier, where as the second, with dark denim is a bit more relaxed.

Outfit 1 Details
Both of these fabulous dressed up looks feature this plus size velvet burnout top , available in sizes 0X (10/12) – 5X (30/32).
By the way, this top is a “true wrap,” which as we have discussed is always a better choice.
A “true” wrap top is one in which the tie, neckline, and fit, can be adjusted when the top is tied closed.
Where as a “faux” wrap top looks similar in style, but can’t be adjusted because the pieces are sewn together in such a way as to create the illusion of a wrap top without the adjustability.
Often you will see inexpensive or budget options in this “faux” wrap style. One of the reasons is that the “faux” wrap tops cost less to make as they use less fabric and they take less time to sew.
Also, this stunning top is made in the US.

Both of these outfits also include this sophisticated wool-blend maxi coat in purple. A head-turner!
Top these outfits with this amazing coat as needed.
As for the bottoms, since I wanted this look to be a bit dressier of the two, I opted for some black pencil pants, which come in sizes 2 – 26W, with petite up to a straight size 18.
I chose these pants because they’re ankle length (hello, gotta show off the shoes!)
They’re cotton and spandex, so very comfortable and machine washable.
But, they look polished with a pintuck running down the front.
If you need petite or tall, try these.
However, I found some other options for you as well:
Plus Size Black Pants
Accessories
My second favorite piece in this outfit are the burgundy bow-embellished flats. I mean, a bow and sparkle… Love!
Of course, I tried to find a variety of options. See even more in the “shop the post” section below.
Like try these sequin flats for something different and on a budget. Here are some options:
As for the bag, a pewter beaded box clutch for the win!
Jewelry
I added gunmetal jewelry to coordinate with the embellishment on the bow flats.
I saw and immediately fell in love with these statement earrings. I also think these in purple make a great option too.
As for the necklace, I went with a gunmetal and crystal Y-necklace, which is 16″ long with a 3″ extender. The center drop is 3″.
If you need longer than 19″, try one of these necklace extenders.
Lastly, add a pave cocktail ring.
Eyeshadow Palette
I have and adore this eyeshadow palette. But, it’s bougie AF, aka outrageously expensive. Literally no one needs this, but this truly luxury eye shadow is dreamy!
This palette formula is so emollient, and glides effortlessly onto lids, with such a smooth finish and AMAZING color payoff.
Try this or this palette for a much more affordable price.
Overall, I recommend a smokey eye with some plum, purple, or silver accents.
An old, but good, eye makeup tutorial of mine can be found here.

Perfume
Prada’s “Paradoxe” is a warm floral with some white musk and neroli bud.
It’s floral but with a bit of sophistication.
It reminds me of what an “it girl” would wear with a slinky slip dress circa 1999. Think Sex and the City’s “naked dress” from Season 1.
But, it has very mixed reviews, so perhaps trying the Dossier version is a good option.
As I’ve said, I have tried several of Dossier’s scents and think they are fantastic for a fraction of the price!

As I explained above, this second look also features the same plus size velvet burnout top and wool-blend maxi coat.
But, this time I went a little less dress with some bootcut jeans in dark denim.
Personally, I think dark denim looks more polished than lighter washes.
If you need petite or tall, try these.
Accessories
Again, I wanted to be a little dressed up but not too dressy. So these calf hair mules in burgundy seemed like an excellent choice.
They‘re “kitten” heels, but I couldn’t find an exact measurement of their height.
I also think these booties would make a great option, with a 2″ heel.
Add a simple black clutch, like this one, which can be used for dressy or casual occasions.
Perfume
I included a new low key everyday perfume favorite: “Rare” Eau de Parfum by Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez.
It’s a warm and sweet gourmand scent, which if you’re a regular reader, you know has been my vibe lately.
But, it’s not too sweet and I love the way the sandalwood keeps the vanilla and caramel balanced.
You know I am terrible at describing perfumes, which is hilarious since I attempt to do it all of the time! Haha!
Bottom line, I think this is a lovely, feminine, easy fragrance. Perhaps worth a try if you want to try a gourmand that’s not too sweet or overpowering.
