48 Plus Size Party Dresses {with Sleeves}

It’s that time of year again!  Holiday functions, office parties, and New Year’s Eve!  As always, I am “rounding up” my favorite plus size party dresses with sleeves.  I have to say, this year’s selection might be the best yet!  Whether you are looking to sparkle or shine, bright colors or a little black dress, this collection is sure to meet your needs.

Inclusive Sizing and Pricing

These dresses are gorgeous and I tried to include something for everyone and everyone’s budget.  These dresses range in sizes from 4 – 46, the majority in sizes 14 – 24.  But, at least fifteen out of the 48 dresses are also available over size 24.  As always, make sure you use my Plus Size Shopping Guide to look for places to shop cocktail dress and/or plus sizes above size 24.  And the dresses range from $41 – $400, with the majority around $100 or less.  Plus many are on sale!

Although not included, I wanted to give honorable mention to this plus size lace dress with sleeves from H&M for under $70.  I think it looks much more expensive.  And it is available in sizes 12 – 26, but keep in mind H&M runs small.  If you’re interested in more plus size dress “round ups” go here.  For plus size sequin party dresses, go here and here.

Disclaimer

If you’re new here, you might be wondering why all of these plus size party dresses have sleeves.  Personally, I prefer to have my upper arms covered.  I have some “in progress” body image issues and feel most confident with a sleeve.  However, finding fancy dresses with a sleeve is actually quite challenging.  Although I think it is getting better or maybe I’ve just gotten better at finding them.  Either way, I try to do all of the searching for those of us who want some coverage and have grown tired of wearing shrugs, wraps, and boleros.

However, all of that said, I by no means think that anyone of any shape or size should ever feel obligated or more accepted if their arms are covered.  Oh hell no!  That is not my message.  If you want to wear a sleeveless or strapless dress, please do!  If you want to show up to the party half naked, or hell, totally naked, I support that!  Whatever makes you feel awesome.  You do you.  But, if like me, you struggle and want to rock out with your arms not-out, here are my top picks for the season so far:

    1. Hi Andrea,
      I’m not sure I understand your question. Do you mean should you wear a blanket scarf with one of these dresses if it’s cold. You could, although I think a nice Pashmina/wrap or dress coat might be a better choice.

  1. I am new to your blog, and I love it.
    Your party dresses “with sleeves”
    is terrific! Thank you, I prefer sleeves and you have made my search so much easier!

  2. Hi Alexa. I absolutely LOVE the sparkly v-neck black dress (top right) but when I click on it it takes me to City Chic but says the item doesn’t exist. I’m really hoping this is just a problem with the link because I NEED this dress. ❤️
    Thanks!
    Bonnie

  3. Good Morning Alexa …… wonderful choices! I’m a curvy 16/18 but my arms, at least I feel, are larger than I would prefer so I’m always looking for a 3/4 or long sleeve dress that still trendy and curve conscious. Thank you for doing the leg work for me.

    Now if you could just do one more thing ……. please point me in the direction of wide calf boots that are actually, 1 wide calf and 2 actually trendy like I see with a Calvin Klein boot or a Nine West boot. The boots that I’ve come across are really not quite as sexy or trendy. Example …. the heel will be two inches at most or an over the knee boot will just get over the knee but be VERY tight at the top which looks like you’re cutting off the circulation to the thigh. GIVE ME A CALVIN KLEIN BOOT BUT IN OUR SIZE!!!!!!!!

    Thank you Alexa and Happy Holidays!
