A plus size puffer coat outfit idea for my “Straight Size to Plus Size” series.
I have seen a lot of these chic fall and winter outfits on Pinterest, but all in straight sizes.
So I thought I would try to recreate the vibe with plus size items.

As I’ve said, these “Straight Size to Plus Size” posts are some of my most popular, but I also get complaints that the “models” in the images aren’t “plus sized.”
So I just wanted to give a little background of why I do these types of posts:
We are all inundated every day by images of thin celebrities, models, and bloggers sporting the “latest looks,” i.e. clothing that doesn’t come in our size.
So I try to take these “unattainable” images and prove that, in fact, with some effort, plus size women can put these hot looks together.
They are attainable!
And I try to take the effort, i.e. searching everywhere for the pieces, out of the equation.
So as always, my main goal is to inspire and empower.
Ok, now back to the outfit idea!

Plus Size Puffer Coats
I found some great coat options at Lands End and L.L.Bean.
FYI, they both have a great selection of winter wear like coats and snow pants.
I chose this long puffer coat. By the way, I have heard these also called “duvet coats.”
If you’d like more shaping, try this one.
Base Outfit Details
I topped the coat over a “base outfit” of some active leggings from Spanx and a cashmere tunic length sweater.
I want to mention that these are my favorite and recommended active leggings.
They’re great for lounging, exercising, or just running errands.
I added a cashmere scarf and a beanie in a similar color.
Sling Bag
For the bag, I chose this sling bag in black that Rosey Blair swears is a great choice for plus size gals.
She rocks it and is a size 24.
Make sure you follow her on Instagram and LTK for more incredible fashion.
Pro tip: put on the sling bag before your coat and then wear the coat open with the bag across the front of your torso.
More Accessories
I’m low key obsessed with these oversized aviators from Diff.
(I currently have 2 colors sitting in my Amazon cart).
For the jewelry, I kept things very simple and just added some gold hoops from Pavoi.
