Plus Size on a Budget – Shrug Outfits

Two plus size shrug outfits for my “plus size on a budget series!”

My “Disclaimer”

I want to prevent some anticipated feedback.  So please keep these things in mind:

  • “Budget” is relative.  Some people easily spend $300 on sunglasses, while other people allocate $300 for their annual clothing budget.
  • You may be able to find these items elsewhere for less.  These are just some “budget-friendly” finds I have come across.  And I typically don’t link to clearance items because they sell out and then people are disappointed.  Also, I have no way of linking to thrift stores, but obviously, if you want to check out your local thrift stores, I think that is a great idea!
  • Recycle & reuse.  As with all of my posts, I hope that you can use the pieces you already have in your wardrobe.  Additionally, I assume that you can reuse all of the pieces below in other combinations with things in your closet to create a variety of looks.  Meaning, I think it is unfair to judge the expense of one outfit as though that is the only way to wear the pieces.

Outfit 1 Details

This first plus size casual summer outfit features coral linen pants.

That color!  And you know I love linen in the summer!

To read more about my love of linen, go here.

These pants have a 28″ inseam, so will hit at the ankle on most.

Top them with a plain white tank (or tee) and this adorable crochet shrug.

I have been a bit down on shrugs lately, but this one is super cute!

I love the crochet texture, nod to a puff sleeve, and tie-front details.

Accessories

I added some oversized sunglasses.

I have these in black and love them!

Some flat woven slide sandals keep the look easy and comfortable.

But the pièce de résistance is this tote bag.

Oh la la!  It’s got me speaking Français.

That’s how much I love it!

This woven tote bag is embellished with sequin embroidery and a bamboo handle.

So rich in design, but easy on the wallet.

And if a tote isn’t your thing, I found a similar design in a much smaller crossbody version.

Jewelry & Beauty

As for jewelry, I kept it trendy: sculptural gold.

The chunky huggie hoops in gold are made by one of my favorite inexpensive brands: Pavoi.

Pavoi also makes the chic and on-trend necklace.

And you’ve heard me talk about these bracelets before.

They’re hot right now, so I bought them and love them!

They easily fit my slightly-larger-than-average sized wrists.

Oh and lastly, I included a peach lipstick.

Outfit 2 Details

This second look is just like the first but I swapped the linen pants for linen shorts.

These shorts are a linen blend: 55% Linen/45% Rayon.

So they are machine washable and should wrinkle slightly less than 100% linen.  Yes!
