Plus Size Kimono & Jeans

Today’s post is essentially my summer uniform: a plus size kimono, jeans, and sandals.  Kimonos are on-trend and more versatile than you might think.  You can go totally boho with your look or keep things more chic.  You can dress up a kimono by adding a pair of heels.  Or you can keep it casual with simple sandals.

As I’m sure you know, I love these gold-capped sandals from Target.  They look expensive but aren’t (yes!).  But if you’re seeking comfort, might I recommend Birkenstocks, which are actually in style (and orthopedic, the best of both worlds!).  They even come in metallics. Yes, please!  Personally, I am saving up for these babies with a leather-wrapped foot bed.  I had a similar pair of Mephistos years ago.  I had never before and never since had something so comfortable on my feet.  So I’m going to have to try these limited edition Birks, hopefully these are just as comfy.

  1. I want to thank you so much for your talent! I have never been one to accessorize or style my outfits and I found your blog and have been making up for lost time! Quick question, do you know of any online stores that have extended ring and bracelet sizes in a bunch of different styles? I know they have little necklace extenders to make bib necklaces a bit longer but I have thicker wrists and larger fingers and would love to have more options to style my outfits. Something like Charming Charlie but more plus size rings, watches, and bracelets. Thanks again for all you share with us!! You are amazing!

    1. Hi Heidi! Thank you for your message! I get this question often enough that I should have a better answer. 🙂 I think plus size retailers like Lane Bryant and Torrid would be good places to start. Many watches come large and are meant to be sized by having links to removed, so a standard watch could work for you. Look for adjustable rings- many inexpensive rings can be adjusted or stretched. Same with open cuffs. Hope this helps! – Alexa
