I often hear “Should plus size people wear stripes?”

If you’re unsure about stripes, please read this post “Are horizontal stripes REALLY making you look fat?,” written by Melissa at Suger Coat It.

She explains, “No, horizontal stripes won’t make you look fat. Only being fat makes you look fat. And you know what, that’s okay.”

I think Melissa does a fantastic job of breaking down this outdated “rule” regarding plus sizes and stripes.

Outfit Details

The first look features red ballet flats and the second includes trending Samba sneakers, otherwise both of these plus size outfits are the same.

A relaxed black blazer tops a striped t-shirt. You can see the same tee with short sleeves here.

I chose some straight leg ankle-length jeans.

Accessories

My favorite designer sunglasses top the look. Check out these which are similar for a lot less.

I added a black wristlet clutch bag. Easy to carry but chic.

And I love the pop of color these red ballet flats provide.

Jewelry

With the influence of Bottega Veneta, sculptural gold jewelry is hot.

I love their waterdrop earrings, but not the price tag.

Fear not, I found some similar earrings for a lot less on Amazon.

By the way, I bought these earrings in the smaller and larger sizes.

The larger ones are stunning, but they are heavier so keep that in mind.

Then I stacked the wrist with some favorites: a gold Tory Burch watch and a Victoria Emerson chain bracelet (I have and love).

Oh and my favorite gold ring.

Beauty

A bold red matte lip is perfect for this look.

My favorite affordable red matte is “Always Red,” from Sephora.

As for fragrance, I included Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian, the ultra-trendy and uber-expensive perfume.

If it’s over your budget, I highly recommend you try the Dossier version.
